The long queue at the counters for last minute changing of the EZ link cards is quite a sight. More than six months back, the relevant authorities announced the need to change. Then they began the process for the exchange, a six month long exercise. The initial few weeks saw long lines forming at those counters. After that it was literally a waste of resources to have people setting up those counters. There was practically no demand. Three days before the end, lines formed again. Of course, they “demanded” extension of deadline which the authorities gracefully granted.
You may ask me why bother with such a trivial issue when all around us people are suffering from different types of natural disasters. It is precisely against this backdrop that I think we should think about this attitude of procrastinating. Such attitudes happen everywhere, especially in the life of a student. Believe me, theological students are no better, they may even be worse.
Well and good if you know for sure when the end is. What if one is not sure? Where might one end up? What if you start queuing but could not quite make it in? Do not forget that the door is narrow.
I must warn people that God had already provided extension. Do not blame God for not extending it any longer than necessary. Do not think that you can try to put God in a guilt trip of not being graceful. Sorry such schemes do not work here. It only works with politicians who need your votes. We need God’s vote and not the other way round.
The opportunity is before you; choose wisely now before it is too late. Who knows what tomorrow brings?
God bless!
